One of the people who set up the Provos – a 1960s/70s Amsterdam group that was sort of political, very inventive, kind of Situationists, who used happenings to make big statements: very creative and very mischievous. Most importantly they tried to make Amsterdam a bike only/car free city. (I’ve seen data that suggests only 20% of journeys were by bike in the mid 19060s Vs around 65% today.) – Andy Edwards, 180 Amsterdam
